A sharp-eyed underwater videographer in Indonesia has shared adorable footage of a tiny sea slug with an unusual ability.
“Meet this cute sea creature called Shaun the Sheep,” says Jacob Guy who shared his footage of the remarkable creature on Instagram. “They only grow up to 7mm!”
Affectionately named after the TV character Shaun the Sheep, leaf sheep are a type of sea slug that graze on algae in shallow coral reefs.
Remarkably, they can absorb chloroplasts from the algae and use these to generate food through photosynthesis. Essentially, they are solar-powered!
