A scuba diving centre in Japan has shared mesmerising footage of being entirely surrounded by hammerhead sharks.

“Thousands of hammerhead sharks, like a mighty river, swim in front of you,” says MikomotoHammers on its website.

MikomotoHammers believes that Mikomoto Island, a small uninhabited island just 15-minutes by boat from the southernmost town on Japan’s Izu Peninsula “is one of the world's most spectacular dive sites,” thanks to the rich marine life (including all the sharks) that are attracted to the Kuroshio Current. Also known as the black current, this is the Pacific Ocean’s strongest current.
