Wisdom the Laysan albatross is an internet star, and for good reason – she’s the world’s oldest known bird, and at more than 70 years old, she is still laying eggs.

She was first ringed in 1956, and it is calculated that she is at least 74 years old.

Every year, she returns to an atoll in the Hawaiian Archipelago, and she has laid an egg this year with a new male partner.

“We are optimistic that the egg will hatch,” says Jonathan Plissner, supervisory wildlife biologist at the refuge.
