Weighing up to 260kg and measuring up to three metres in length, the tiger is the largest of the world's big cats.

But these majestic animals are in trouble. There are only around 5,500 tigers left in the wild and the big cat is listed as ‘endangered’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

It is found in Asia, from India through to the Russian Far East and into China, and its habitat ranges from sub-tropical forests to snow-covered mountainous terrain.

In a bid to help protect the charismatic cat, wildlife charity Remembering Wildlife has published a new book – Remembering Tigers. Here, we reveal a few of the publication's most magnificent photographs.
