Liz Bonnin has a BA in biochemistry from Trinity College Dublin. She also has a master's degree in wild animal biology and conservation from the Zoological Society of London and the Royal Veterinary College. 

How did she get into presenting?

After university, Bonnin had to choose between a PhD at Oxford or joining an all-girl pop band: she chose the band. (She isn't the only wildlife presenter to have a musical background – so does Michaela Strachan.) The band were quickly dropped, but she went into television soon after and began presenting the Channel 4 breakfast show RI:SE and then Top of the Pops. She then completed her master's working on tiger conservation, then hoped to go back into presenting. Soon after, she presented the BBC One science show Bang Goes the Theory.

Liz Bonnin has presented a wealth of wildlife series across the BBC and ITV, including The Watches, Stargazing Live, Our Changing Planet, Countrywise, Horizon, and Liz Bonnin's Wild Caribbean.
